Santa is a fat... -Insane Clown Posse

Twas the week before Christmas and I decided to have a week of random Christmas related blog posts leading up until the day the jolly old fat one gets his rotund rump stuck in someone's chimney. The first of these is a song that I end up singing while wrapping presents every year. Who cares about "Rudolph" when I can still be down with the clown during this warm and fuzzy time of year!

Hesitate- Stone Sour

I strayed away from listening to Stone Sour for a while, because I felt they had become a little "radio rock". This entire album changed that opinion for me. It goes back to what made me love "Bother" and some of their other earlier work so much.

Trick 'r Treat (2007)

Light the candles for your jack-o-lantern, put up the fake spiderwebs, fill the giant pumpkin trash bags with leaves, and dress in your scariest costume. It's Halloween once again, folks. I just got back from taking the boys Trick or Treating and I'm settling in to watch my ever growing annual Halloween movie list. Topping this list tonight is Night of the Living Dead and Trick 'r Treat. Two of my all time favorite movies. For those of you that haven't seen Trick 'r Treat, you really need to watch it tonight.

Dead End (2003)

For this Terror Tuesday post I figured I'd watch something that I've seen on Netflix for a while now. When using Netflix to choose a horror film, I'm not usually thinking it will be a great one. My ultimate reason is that most people have Netflix now and could potentially watch it if info I have posted here interested them.

I will begin by saying I can not remember a time that I peeked through my fingers while watching a movie in a very, very long time. Maybe it's the season. Maybe I just got a little scared because I watched most of it alone. Either way, I will be glad to let you know, if you want to watch something that can scare even me...this is it! I thought the driving would get monotonous, but with everything happening, it never bored me. The ending is predictable on some level if you explore your imagination, but I suggest you just watch the movie and enjoy it. Don't spoil it for yourself.

James Erwin

Today I lost someone who has made me laugh and cry, made me angry and crazy happy. I can say he was a friend at the worst of times and my big brother in the best. I've cleaned his blood off of carpet, threatened to beat him up for being stupid and shared his joy when things were going right. Our conversations have been countless and I've gained so much from them over the years. Looking back, I know things are better for him now, but that doesn't make the hurt any less. In the past few days of him being in the hospital, people have come together to talk about the good times, bad times and all out insane times. Through divorces and drugs, love and hate, losses and wins, he was always there for everyone. Not many can say they were the same for him. I know some gave up on him without a second glance and for those people I can honestly say, you guys missed out. Upon seeing a guy covered in tattoos, some of you turned your nose up, the rest of us...saw Swerve.

I can remember meeting him back when I was a kid. He was nuts. Years later, he was still nuts. One of the most fun loving and sweet men to ever end up in my life. I don't know any other friend I've talked with like I did Swerve. He listened to my problems and cried with me through what seemed like endless turmoil. I listened and when he asked for advice, I gave it as freely as I knew how. Sometimes it seemed like he didn't listen, other times I realized my advice just wasn't the right advice for him. My last conversation with him was wonderful. We discussed how it sucks getting old and going gray, the need for me to finally get my Batman tattoo, religion, and mostly how great he felt being sober. I told him I loved him and that he made me proud. He would always be my big crazy brother. I promised I'd be back to finish my Alice stuff and I'd get a couple more tattoos as soon as I could. I can care less if he stayed sober. I can care less if you liked him at all. I just wanted to type into words what a great friend he was to me.

No matter what...I love you, Bro. I always will. I hate that I will never hear your goofy laugh or your silly sayings. I hate that we can't have five hour chats about Dali and art. I hate that we can't get all Juggalo together. I know you are more at peace now than you ever were here on Earth, but I would give anything to have another chance to sit and do all of those things. You have no idea the impact you've left on those you came in contact with. Positive or negative, no one can say you were boring. I just hope you knew how much you were loved and what a ripple effect you had on all of us. MMFCL!

American Werewolf in London (1981)

I think it's safe to say this film has been a favorite of mine since I was six or seven. My love of gore started way back when I was a little blonde, blue eyed pastor's daughter. A lot has changed in that time, the least of all being my haircolor. One thing will always remain the same. I love this movie. On some secret level, I feel actual pain during the transformation scene. I don't think any special effects before or since has made me actually hurt for a character more. When I think of movies my two little boys must see, this tops the list. It is scary, but has that great early 80s humor most horror movies had then. I miss the good old days.

Happy Birthday to me...Again?

Corey Taylor as a birthday gift would be the greatest ever. I'm not saying I'd like to hold him against his will in my basement, but I will say...that may be fun. I'm not your run of the mill groupie fangirl. I don't obsess over bands or musicians. I do enjoy music and I do find men attractive. When the two pair for me, it's Corey. Gone are the days of my youth when a pretty face could draw my attention. I need substance and he has it. His lyrics are clever, dark and full of passion derived from life experiences. What I wouldn't give to have the ability to let out what kills me inside the way he seems to do almost effortlessly. I've spent well over a decade being a fan in many different areas and don't see that changing anytime soon.

So when all of you think what the perfect gift for me is this year. I've given you the answer ahead of time. It's simple...Corey Taylor. Thanks! And if for some reasons my life long fear of dying at 27 is right...I love you all! If not, Hello 28 (you suck already).

Cindy Lou Who...Who?

I was looking at silly pics on DamnLOL and came across this one.

So I did some searching for her now, and this is what I've found. Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen) is now all grown up and badass as hell! It's okay boys, go ahead and drool. She was 18 this year.

Queen? Yes Please!

This is absolutely awesome. Marc Martel just blows my mind. Check out some of his other videos on Youtube. You will agree.

Although I've spent most of my life a fat kid, I'm not a fan of snack cakes. Especially Snoballs or Cupcakes. I'm down for the occasional Star Crunch or maybe even a random Cosmic Brownie. That being said, I want to introduce you to what will become my new favorites (even if I never eat one)

Yep, that's right. It's real! Not only are there Optimus Prime Snoballs.

I'm not sure where I can find these, but if you see them in a store near you, please let me know in the comments below! Sean and Cory will enjoy eating them and I'll enjoy keeping the boxes for years to come to commemorate my dorkiness.

Toy Story 3...Horror Style

I know. I leave for a while and come back for Terror Tuesday with some kid stuff. Just watch it. If you haven't seen Toy Story 3 and want to, it may be a good idea to wait. Otherwise...enjoy.

Gears of War 3

After getting to play the beta a few months ago, I've been waiting patiently to play Gears 3. I won't be making the trip to Game Stop tonight at midnight, but my preorder is in and I'm just waiting to get my hands on it. I've played the previous Gears games and must say the Beta for 3 was the most impressive so far. I can't wait to lose hours in the upcoming weeks playing again. Happy Early Birthday to me indeed!!!

Charles Miller- Maybach Music 2

With the upcoming release of Millers new album, I thought I'd share something from the first. He's a great friend of mine who never fails to speak in passing. Not your usual "hometown" rapper, he truly does his music for the sake of art. I'm sharing this and asking if you want a copy of the cd, just let me know. If you want him to come do a gig for free, let me know. I'll see what I can do. On the real, he's good people and I couldn't be more proud to share his music on my blog.

The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu (2009)

Where to begin...

This movie is horrible. I wanted to give it a chance because of my love of Lovecraft, but the stupid cgi effects and dialogue ruins it for me in the first five minutes. I rarely review anything that I don't like, because I feel that being that negative only brings more negativity. In this case take my review as a warning and don't waste your time. The name had me hopeful for something great and instead it was like a cheap pork chop biscuit from the local Arab gas station, better known as shit. I'm posting the trailer so you can see at your own risk why this is a no for me. Watch it or not but don't say I didn't warn you!

Doghouse (2009)

Admittedly I didn't expect to like this. I thought it would be a man-hating, bitch fest and hesitantly tuned in to Netflix with my bf, my roommate and a friend. (all men) I thought I'd get some laughs at the expense of men and make fun of how true to life the men in the movie were, but that wasn't the case at all. The movie begins with the guys getting together to cheer up one of their buddies that's going through a break up. Drama from all of the significant others ensues and so does the hilarity for the viewer. We laughed at the stupid dialogue and hijinks throughout and I came to the conclusion that this movie would become an "own" for me.

I definitely want you guys to at least watch it. It's best viewed with a group of friends...maybe with some drinks of your choice and lots of laughs.

Frailty (2001)

Oh how I wish I never let anyone borrow this movie, or at least knew who it was so that I could hunt them down and get it back. It's twisty, creepy and dark. I loved it immediately. I think my Terror Tuesday posts are becoming a wish list of movies I've lost and want again.

Either way. It's definitely an own for me. Check it out for yourself if you get the chance.

Working for tha Weekend

This weekend, I will be getting a much needed break from the monotony of work, responsibility, drama, and stress to enjoy a trip to Atlanta with some of my favorite people. To get me ready for this event I'll be listening to alot of great music. Just want to share what's been on repeat in my "driving" playlist lately. Don't knock it till you try it...driving to Pendulum! (Or in my current state, posting to my blog while listening to Pendulum. Either way)

Pendulum- "The Other Side"

Make sure you listen in 1080! Don't crap it out in 380!

Can't Hardly Wait (1998)

With my little sister graduating high school and moving in with me, the Can't Hardly Wait quotes are abundant in this house. This movie is full of stupid, immature humor which we can all use from time to time. Let's go Way Back to the 90s and remember what High School was like for the rest of us.
Here are a few of the random quotes you can expect to say for the rest of your life.

..."He has hair...and he wears tee shirts, sometimes"....

..."would you like to touch my penis?"....

"You know who else I like that didn't get much play? Velma from Scooby-Doo. She was cool. She was a hip, hip lady."

"Woman, this is all *your* fault. Come bargin' in here like a friggin' moose."

"Nobody drink the beer, the beer has gone bad!"

"I better double bag it. I don't know where that girl been."
And the one that gets the most use around here...
"I can't feel my legs, I HAVE NO LEGS!"

Cabin Fever (2002)

I've no idea why I waited so long to see this movie. I watched Hostel as soon as it was released and realized what a genius Eli Roth was from the beginning. This is no different. It's funny, gory and full of craziness like we've all come to love from Roth. I should have watched it years ago!

Enjoy this Terror Tuesday and curl up with Cabin Fever.

Blowin ya mind...Wu Tang style.

I'm not sure what made me think of this song tonight, but I'm sure glad I did. I used to love it, and I guess it's safe to say I still love the Wu!

Enjoy the Rza, Bitches :D

My problems with romantic movies....

I've made snide comments on various reasons why I avoid the typical "chick flick". I'm going to explain them in detail in this post.

I have been trying to watch Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist for ages. I finally caught it during a bout with insomnia earlier this week. Here are my thoughts....
1. I love the two main characters. They are endearing, nerdy, and intelligent. Things I hope others see in myself.
2. The awkwardness is realistic.
3. The ending, not so much! I was pretty irate to see how everything just fell into place for these two. It rarely happens that way and takes a significant amount of effort for a relationship to work. Two people usually have difficulty ever being on the same page at the same time and one always ends up feeling hurt, used, lonely or worse. These two just "fit" together so perfectly it made me want to gag myself. Maybe I'm bitter, and I can see why this opinion would reflect that, but really? I'd much rather see a relationship bloom more like Holden and Alyssa in Chasing Amy. (See video below). It's more realistic. He loves her. She doesn't want to feel for him, but she does and it's a storm of emotions for both of them. That is what a real relationship is like, in my honest opinion.

Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

Okay guys and gals, time to pull on those stockings, paint on your make up and do the Time Warp in your living rooms. Every once in a while I get into a "Rocky" mood and dance, sing, and pretty much make a fool of myself for anyone willing to watch. Join me on this Way Back Wednesday for some RHPS fun!

Hostel (2005)

Eli Roth wins my gory heart yet again with this one. I remembered today how much I love this film. I dare say everything Mr. Roth touches tuns to a puddle of blood, and for horror fans like myself, it's a simple thing that makes us content.

Reality Bites (1994)

With one of my favorite guilty pleasure soundtracks of all time, this movie holds dear memories for me. Watched it tonight for the first time in forever! Still love it, too.

Deftones Live!

Most of you who follow this blog have been made aware of my obsession with Deftones. They are and have been my favorite band for some time now. I made my pilgrimage to see them for the first time this past weekend. I was blown away....

I can't put into words what a great experience this was for me. I sat above the stage and just let go of everything. Years of wishing I could hear them live never prepared me for what emotions I would feel hearing it firsthand. I wish all of you could have this experience.

Unfortunately, my phone decided to ass out before Chino and crew ever took the stage so I had no video or photographic evidence of this awesomeness. However, Mister Bones saves the day again with some pics he emailed me. (Thanks again, Man)

I totally couldn't hold back the emotions when I heard be opening of this song. Just simply amazing...

And my favorite song ever...

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)

Classic! I've watched this movie more times than I can count. I'm sure most of you have seen it at some point, but give it another watch soon. It never fails to make you smile.

Since I've been super busy and haven't posted in a couple weeks, this one is going to cover both Terror Tuesday and Way Back Wednesday for this week. Enjoy!

Let the Right One in (

I'm back again with yet another foreign film as a Terror Tuesday post. Also hailing from Norway like Dead Snow, Let the Right One in, is vampire story done right. There is a great dynamic between the two main characters. Their innocent affection and curiosity towards one another is so well written and acted that I forgot I was watching a movie. This has made my list of favorites. It is a must own!

If you can't say something nice...

This weekend has been horrible, but rather than bitch about things that are outside of my control, I'll go back into my shell. Even venting has lost it's pleasure.

Dead Snow (2009)

When I realized that I would have to read subtitles, I was a bit disheartened. I was tired and didn't really feel like reading when watching a movie. Immediately the movie sucked me in so that I could have cared less about the subtitles. It has ZOMBIE NAZIS! It's Norwegian! It's awesome. I've since gone back and watched it again and again. Even watching it at work on the Ipad. I can't help but share this with everyone. Definitely a watch for movie fans in general and a BUY for horror fans. I would love to post a few of my favorite scenes, but don't want to spoil it. Just know that this one gets a bit more creative with where shit goes down...pun intended! Enjoy!

I'm taking a break in my Deftones Way Back Wednesday posts to celebrate something else I love.

Silent Hill (2006)

Based on the video game with the same name, a woman searches for her daughter in a seemingly abandoned town...aptly named "Silent Hill". This film, along with the game, is terrifying. You should definitely give it a watch!

can't think
can't cry

Lazy!

I'm actually off work today, and I plan on listening to this on repeat. If you feel me, join me in my complete laziness!

Teeth (2007)

It was obvious after reading the premise of this one what exactly was going to transpire.

I must admit I had to mentally prepare to watch this film. It's been on Netflix for a while and I've avoided it at all costs. For this Terror Tuesday post I figured what better time to make myself endure it, and now that I've seen it so should you.

Check out the trailer...If you have Netflix and are a guy watch it and never want to have sex again. If you're a girl, wish it was you.

Happy Easter

So it has been stated previously on this blog that I despise how commercial holidays have become. Yet, I too had to purchase stuff for my boys... Just thought I would share some cool pics to commemorate this event.

And for those of you who require a more "spiritual" holiday celebration, check out Mister Bone's Easter post here.

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you find the prize egg! (If you do, mind sharing with a sista?)

It was wine actually....

Dead Hooker in a Trunk (2009)

I've procrastinated writing about this film for a couple of reasons. 1) I didn't feel that my mediocre writing abilities could explain how much I loved it. and... 2) So many of my fellow "horror bloggers" were reviewing it on their blogs. Now that some time has passed since everyone else's review and I have a newfound self-confidence, I feel it's time for my review.

I watched a fellow fan's screener a while back and LOVED IT. I had heard nothing but great things about this one, but it didn't even prepare me for how much I loved it. There are some amazing artistic images, it's got the typical humor that those who like horror adore. The screenplay is so well written that it escapes the silly that is so typical of this genre. Jen and Sylvia Soska knocked it out of the park with this! The actors are great, the plot is twisted and keeps you at attention. I can't wait for the U.S. release for Dead Hooker in a Trunk. I'm sure to buy a couple for good measure or at least to share with those who haven't been lucky enough to see it yet! Keep your ears and eyes out for this one. I promise it doesn't disappoint!

A few of my favorite screenshots...

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of watching this one yet...here's the trailer.

These ladies make a better horror film than most men could dream of. I'm proud to share a gender with them! Beautiful, Smart and straight up BADASSES! The Soska Sisters are truly talented ladies. Be sure to keep a look out for their newest film, American Mary. I look forward to seeing what else these Twisted Twins have up their sleeves.

Me and The Beatles

The saying goes, "Everything is mind over matter, if you don't mind then it will not matter." Good advice most of the time, but I'm a stresser. I worry about everything including things that are beyond the scope of my control. Lately someone much, much older and wiser than myself told me to "Let it Be". Yeah, yeah...old people and Beatles references, right? But after some thought, it makes much more sense. I contemplated every angle of everything I did and still was no closer to understanding why things were...confusing. I took a step back, and "Let it Be"...then it all was clear to me. Sometimes we just need that moment of "Aha". I'm not so worried right now, I have this brilliant plan to escape until I have that Aha moment every time something bothers me. I had a great weekend with four, read that, FOUR days off consecutively! I go back to work tomorrow, but it's safe to say I go back to work well rested and happy for the first time in a while. Funny how time with my boys, a horror movie marathon, xbox, football, hockey, and loads of sleep will make me a whole new me. I thought I'd post some highlights of my R&R.

Greggy arriving in Atlanta

My boys on our way to A-Day

All Smiles

War Eagle!

Slightly bored, but trying to pay attention

And here come our Tigers!

At the end of a long, exhausting day
See, I do have tons to be happy about. It just took clearing some of the smoke away to see how lucky my life truly is. I've got great friends and family to lean onto when I need them, but sometimes it just takes a little quiet time to reevaluate what's important in life.
