Happy Easter

So it has been stated previously on this blog that I despise how commercial holidays have become. Yet, I too had to purchase stuff for my boys... Just thought I would share some cool pics to commemorate this event.

And for those of you who require a more "spiritual" holiday celebration, check out Mister Bone's Easter post here.

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you find the prize egg! (If you do, mind sharing with a sista?)

It was wine actually....

Dead Hooker in a Trunk (2009)

I've procrastinated writing about this film for a couple of reasons. 1) I didn't feel that my mediocre writing abilities could explain how much I loved it. and... 2) So many of my fellow "horror bloggers" were reviewing it on their blogs. Now that some time has passed since everyone else's review and I have a newfound self-confidence, I feel it's time for my review.

I watched a fellow fan's screener a while back and LOVED IT. I had heard nothing but great things about this one, but it didn't even prepare me for how much I loved it. There are some amazing artistic images, it's got the typical humor that those who like horror adore. The screenplay is so well written that it escapes the silly that is so typical of this genre. Jen and Sylvia Soska knocked it out of the park with this! The actors are great, the plot is twisted and keeps you at attention. I can't wait for the U.S. release for Dead Hooker in a Trunk. I'm sure to buy a couple for good measure or at least to share with those who haven't been lucky enough to see it yet! Keep your ears and eyes out for this one. I promise it doesn't disappoint!

A few of my favorite screenshots...

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of watching this one yet...here's the trailer.

These ladies make a better horror film than most men could dream of. I'm proud to share a gender with them! Beautiful, Smart and straight up BADASSES! The Soska Sisters are truly talented ladies. Be sure to keep a look out for their newest film, American Mary. I look forward to seeing what else these Twisted Twins have up their sleeves.

Me and The Beatles

The saying goes, "Everything is mind over matter, if you don't mind then it will not matter." Good advice most of the time, but I'm a stresser. I worry about everything including things that are beyond the scope of my control. Lately someone much, much older and wiser than myself told me to "Let it Be". Yeah, yeah...old people and Beatles references, right? But after some thought, it makes much more sense. I contemplated every angle of everything I did and still was no closer to understanding why things were...confusing. I took a step back, and "Let it Be"...then it all was clear to me. Sometimes we just need that moment of "Aha". I'm not so worried right now, I have this brilliant plan to escape until I have that Aha moment every time something bothers me. I had a great weekend with four, read that, FOUR days off consecutively! I go back to work tomorrow, but it's safe to say I go back to work well rested and happy for the first time in a while. Funny how time with my boys, a horror movie marathon, xbox, football, hockey, and loads of sleep will make me a whole new me. I thought I'd post some highlights of my R&R.

At the end of a long, exhausting day
See, I do have tons to be happy about. It just took clearing some of the smoke away to see how lucky my life truly is. I've got great friends and family to lean onto when I need them, but sometimes it just takes a little quiet time to reevaluate what's important in life.
