For a giggle

I found this on a blog I frequent and thought I'd share it here. JoeyMax's blog has made me laugh so hard I cried on numerous occasions with the "how do I do laundry" or "grocery shopping" but the latest vent on how he hated giving massages (I feel sorry for his wife lol) had an extra little humor added. This video almost feels sacrilegious because I love Mortal Kombat so much, but even that can't stop me from laughing right now. So I give you: Gay Mortal Kombat

Crybaby (1989)

Yet another WBW and I know this one will receive mixed reviews. I happen to love John Waters' films. Cecil B. Demented was great...Pink Flamingos was disturbing...and Hairspray was decent in it's own mainstream way. But Crybaby is by far, the best for me! Of course I love Johnny Depp. Find one person who doesn't think he's attractive and I'll call 'em a liar. He is especially attractive as a motorcycle riding, rock n rolling, badass!


Crybaby is great for the campy humor that John Waters is known for. I still sing along with the movie's songs and secretly wish I could be more "vampy" after watching it. One of these days I'm going to buy a low cut shirt, some tight pants, and red lipstick to wear with my hooker heels! Any movie where a woman is called "hatchet face" has to be good, right?

I'm really glad I found this one in the $5 bin tonight. I've wanted it for a while! I can't say it's worth a buy for everyone, but definitely a watch at least. If nothing else you'll get a laugh at Hatchet Face!

Oh and for you guys...Traci Lords herself is in this one. Yes, that Traci Lords! Not to mention, Iggy Pop!

 

Like it or hate it...It's this week's WBW! And posting this has made me the happiest (pseudo) juvenile delinquent in Alabama!

American Psycho (2000)

This weeks Terror Tuesday is one of the best movies ever! American Psycho is based on a novel by Bret Easton Ellis (One really messed up dude!) A few of his other novels have been adapted into films but none with the success of American Psycho. Less than Zero is another great book/movie. Definitely check it out sometime.
 Now back to the masterpiece that is American Psycho....Set in the 80s, which you all know I adore, it takes a new view on the decade from the Wall Street, yuppie life. This is the film that started my obsession with all things Christian Bale. The opening monologue is simply brilliant. It sets the tone for everything else, the selfishness, the envy, the shallow thoughts of a man... He has a few throughout the movie that are hilarious. The narration is smart and witty, while still being creepy and strange which makes this such a great movie. He is a horrible guy in so many ways but is terrifying and funny simultaneously. More than anything, the ending still screws with my head. If I'm ever really stressed, I watch this and think...at least I'm not as psycho as Patrick! Did I mention I love all things Christian Bale! Yes, he is a hot Welshman. He has an amazing ass (which you see a few times in this movie). He is BATMAN! More than anything else, he is usually a great actor. I have seen some of his work that may have been lacking in some way or another, but this one movie more than makes up for those.

Solace Lost

 

Last Saturday I braved the mean streets of ATL (Stone Mountain to be exact) yet again to see the Georgia Battle of the Bands. I was surprised that the other bands were horrible! I wasn't impressed to say the least...until Solace Lost took the stage. I had prepared for their live show, by listening to them constantly for a few days prior, but had no idea what was in store for me. They were loud, hard, and everything I wanted to see in a show! I knew it would be good...but it was simply skull shattering! The crowd was involved, the musicians were on point and I was blown away to say the least. If you ever get the chance to catch a show...definitely do it!

Don't Dream, It's definitely over!

This morning, while perusing around my boring facebook page, an ad caught my eye...EXAHOLICS! So I clicked the link and found an actual twelve step program for getting over an ex. Personally, I don't think a twelve step program is what's necessary to get over an ex. If you can't understand why something is over, take a good look at your own behavior in the relationship! I'm never the best person for relationship advice. Obviously, my failed marriage is not entirely someone else's fault. But it is just that...failed and over. I've stood my ground this time and am proud to say even when given guilt trips, called a slut, called a drunk, called a bitch...it's still over. I don't understand how anyone would think those moments of genius would make someone want you back. It doesn't work that way!

So the bitch in me (not a huge part of me...but it's there) wants to send this link to my ex. I want him to move on for the sake of my boys and myself. No more dragging out the inevitable with promises of changing and "doing better". Since August/September, I have had my mind made up to see this divorce through and never suffer the same heartache that I have for the last...well almost decade. I've had to pay for the divorce in it's entirety, which is no small feat in itself. I should have the last "installment" paid Friday. Hopefully that means everything is over. I just can't wait for this drama to fade and me to move on with my life. Most importantly, I want my boys to be happy and healthy kids. Listening to their father continually go on about why I should take him back and being put in the middle, is far from healthy. I just want to physically hurt him when my babies cry to me because I should "give Daddy another chance".

I think the best idea so far, is I don't give a fuck if he gets over me. I didn't abuse, use, and mistreat everyone around me for my own selfish gain. I've grown indifferent on the feelings of those who do mistreat others. If you hurt...you deserve it. Learn from your past or you are doomed to repeat it, Right? I know I will never be anyone's doormat again. So if you can't get over your ex, you just don't want to believe it's over, or you can't let go of the past...check out Exaholics. Maybe you can buddy with other sad, depressed individuals who can't deal with the pain.

Me...I'm good and will stay that way! 

 

Fear (1996)

This isn't my typical movie post, not really considered a horror movie, but still one of my favorites! I've seen this one at least 100 times and watched it yet again this morning for this week's WBW post. Yes, it's a Girl movie, but a great one. I will be the first to admit that the acting isn't the greatest, and watching it all these years later, I realize that. I guess I feel a kindred spirit with Nicole in the good little girl in a bad relationship. Part of me wants to scream for her to run away in the beginning! Girls make horrible decisions and this movie proves that art imitates life.

So if by watching this I reaffirm that guys with horrible tempers are a bad idea, it's a plus. I think all teenage girls should watch this, but if my past is any indication, they won't all learn from it!


If you haven't seen it watch it! I can't promise the greatest movie you'll ever see, but it's good for a couple of hours of entertainment. Added note: Ms. Milano is a slut in yet another movie! Surprise!!!

House of the Devil (2009)

I didn't expect much from this one to be honest. I've started it a few times and gotten too busy to finish it, but this morning I sat and watched...

I was surprised to see some of the most awesome, gory scenes in this. I must admit, I watched the scene of Megan lighting the cigarette in the car three times (in slow motion). Just beautiful! This definitely has some greatest scenes I've seen in a horror film in some time. The acting is much better than I expected as well. It's not too cheesy or over the top and has a very "real" feel to it.

Tom Noonan makes this one for me. He is very odd while still being somewhat endearing somehow. I personally would trust him, which would ultimately lead to my certain death, but he's so sweetly strange without being overly creepy. That one detail, in my opinion, is what sets this apart from other movies with the same general plot. The "bad guy" doesn't seem all bad.

Another great detail of House of the Devil for me was the time period. Everyone knows the 80s were awesome, and most of the greatest horror films were created in the 70s and 80s...this fits in rather nicely. I loved the wardrobe, hair and style of this one. It just works for me.

If you haven't seen it, you should. I'm not saying it will change your life, but if you enjoy good, old fashioned, gory horror, this one's definitely worth a view, if not a buy.

Lights, Camera...Action

Few of you know that I secretly dream of doing voice over work. This is a problem because I don't have a particularly distinctive voice, I can't do accents, nor do I have any real acting talent. But I do, however, have this strange desire to have my voice immortalized in a video game, cartoon, or as a chick in a Twiztid song. I know it's a strange ambition, but it's been mine for a while.

I've actually been given the opportunity on numerous occasions to speak live on air for a radio station. While stationed in Keflavik, Iceland, I was in front of a mic at the on base studio many times and just sat there without making a sound. Having friends who were Journalists in the Navy led to many great times and lots of great conversations, but didn't push me to realize my dream. So now, all these years later, I still haven't made any progress and I feel like the clock is ticking! I know that 27 isn't necessarily "over the hill" but I'm not getting younger. I'm slowly devising a plan to make this a reality.

Over a decade ago, some friends and I started writing a screenplay. I have none of the work, but remember the general idea. In the next year I would like to finish this and start working on my very own horror movie. I know there are plenty of people who do this every day, and most with more talent than I will ever posses, but I still am going to do it! So the goal is this, I make my own movie, I can cast whomever I choose to be in it, and there is my voice immortalized! Even if it's just my screams being heard while being chased by a psychopath with some random weapon! I won't mind being killed in the first scene. Just to know that I've accomplished this finally will be enough for me.  I don't really want to act as a profession, but I figure this kills two birds with one stone. And I will have made a movie! Who doesn't want to do that. (And not the kind where you set up a tripod at the end of the bed)....

I guess it helps that I've made friends with some people in the "business". Knowing a few professional actors, special effects artists, and amazing writers is a definite win for my current situation. Now I only need to gather all of these talented people together to work with me and create something amazing! I'm sure this will be a long and stressful process, but I'm going to relish in it all the same. So if you would like to be a part of helping me make this happen, let me know. I can use all the help I can get!

I have some favorite movies that I hope to gather much insight from in the next few months. I want something gory, disgusting, and downright scary. Old school special effects, lots of fake blood and terror that has you carrying a knife to bed with you. It's asking quite a bit of my brain to create something of this magnitude, but what the hell? I like being terrified. Maybe I can share my love for all that is scary with the world!

It's a RAVE!

Anyone who knows me, or reads this blog knows that I'm not really into "techno" or "rave" music. That being said, I took my little sister to her first Rave/Club experience Saturday night in Atlanta. It was a last minute decision that was actually a great one. My co-worker, Jared, mentioned it and I asked Amanda if she was down...when she agreed, I was apprehensive to say the least! I am not a "club kid" by any means. Don't get me wrong, I will have a drink at the local bar or at the Applebee's across the parking lot from where I work, but I don't "club". I haven't been to anything like this in years. I was mortified that I was too old and would surely be kicked out of line and barred from the velvet ropes (snow covered cracked sidewalk in this case) To my surprise I wasn't the oldest person waiting in line in the freezing cold at 2 am to enter this establishment. The place was called Tundra and it was frigid!

 

I am glad I got to spend some time with my little sister in a "grown up" atmosphere. All too often we just sit around and do nothing. It was nice to be the one to experience this with her and I look forward to more trips to Atlanta while she's visiting from Kansas!

Zero (1995)

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness has some vivid memories for me, but the song "Zero" tops all other tracks. Being the "preacher's kid" the lyrics had a very strong hold on me. Even now the line "...and God is empty, just like me..." invokes emotions that I can't put into words. So instead I will post the song for your own viewing/listening pleasure. The Orphanage (2007)

I must admit, I have been looking forward to watching this movie. I just recently bought it, but haven't had the chance to sit and view it. A couple of months ago I watched Pan's Labyrinth, and loved it. When I saw that Guillermo Del Toro produced this, I knew it was a must see for me.

So when I decided to watch this I chose to watch without English subtitles for a couple of reasons. 1) I can't find the remote to my DVD player in my bedroom and I'm too lazy to watch it in any other room. and 2) I thought I would better enjoy "watching" instead of reading. Most of  all, if after six years of Spanish classes I can't understand it...we have issues. I'm glad I watched without the subtitles! There was a purity that wasn't ruined by my constant scanning words on screen. In Spanish I still got the plot and was able to actually see what was happening in the movie.

I will be the first to admit, if you want to scare me, put a kid in a mask. Tomas is so deeply terrifying to me as the "ghost" in this story. It is moving and beautiful to watch, but just as touching and emotional. I really enjoyed this as much as I expected, and am glad to have added it to the growing number of movies that I now have no more space to store. If you haven't seen this one you really should. It's a great film.

I really am growing an affection for everything Del Toro touches. I'm a huge fan of Hellboy and, as I mentioned above, Pan's Labyrinth. I look forward to finding more of his work past, present, and future.

Tee Shirts (Superhero Edition)

Yeah, the girl with an obsession with superheros has found her Kryptonite. As much as I love tee shirts, I should really stop looking for them online. However, someone needs to share this knowledge with the public and I've taken it upon myself to educate the masses. Let's begin with Batman. Surprised? I didn't think so!

Couple Days Late

And quite a few dollars short. I'm posting Terror Tuesday on Thursday. I know, I could just wait until next week, but my love of all that is horror has me wanting to post tonight. Tonight's terrifying tale is House on Haunted Hill (1959) Vincent Price invites a group of guests to his "haunted" home for a party for his fourth wife. The previous three wives have all kicked the bucket. Cue ominous music....

Price is by far one of the most chilling men I've ever watched on film. He gives me nightmares! If you haven't seen this one, you really should catch it. I remember watching it as a kid and it stayed with me. Yeah, there is a remake of this and it's decent, but the original is still far better, big shock!! They just don't make them like they used to...

Winning

I'll agree winning isn't everything, but then again...my team didn't lose a game last season! National Champions. This is the moment Queen starts playing and tears start rolling. I didn't think I'd see it in my lifetime and couldn't be more proud to say "It's great to be an Auburn Tiger!" So for those of you with endless "duck" jokes (including my mother, I love you) WAR EAGLE! Here's to another great season and hoping this year will prove just as great!

National Championship!

As it has been stated previously in this blog, I am a die hard Auburn fan! This year for the first time in my life we have made it all the way to the National Championship. In 4 hours I will be glued to a screen not to move until we win or lose. I am fully aware there are those of you who are happy to get this far, and don't care win or lose...I care. I don't want my team to have made it this far to lose now. I'm posting a little motivation for those of you who wanna see some tigers rip some ducks into pieces tonight. Let's go get em Boys!!

Heads up...new music!!!

#1 this week on Billboard's Rock chart is The Black Keys "Tighten Up". I actually like this one, however commercial it may be. I've had it on my phone for a few weeks now, and listen to it at work. Not my usual style of music, but it has a certain flow and bluesy sound that I tend to gravitate towards. I probably will never download another song by this band...but I'll enjoy this one for now.





Onto a band that has a etched a permanent mark on me...My Chemical Romance. I know, I'm such an "emo" kid or whatever term you are affectionately calling fans of MCR these days. Honestly, there is very little these guys do that I don't love...even when I try not to like it at all! I give you...."Sing" Oh, and tell me Gerard Way doesn't have amazing vocal talent and I will straight up punch you in the face! :D





Now that I've given you my "rock" songs this week...let's change it up a bit. My pal Mister_Bones posted a video for Kanye West's "Monster" and I've not been able to stop watching it since. Instead of playing copy cat, you can take a trip to his blog and see the video here. This song is so packed with artists that I enjoy, it can't possibly be bad! Rick Ross, Jay-Z, and Nicki Manaj....just greatness. The video is what takes it to another level for me. As those of you that follow this blog know, I love horror and this delves into some things I'm sure they will never show on MTV.

Way Back Wednesday

I really didn't have to put much thought into this weeks WBW post. It's one of my all time favorite movies, partially because of my childhood obsession with all things Fred Savage (I love Kevin). Mostly it's because The Princess Bride is still one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. There are so many one-liners that I use daily from this film. While I've mentioned I'm not a huge "chick flick" fan, that is not to say that I don't like romance in general. The love story between Wesley and Buttercup is one of epic proportions for me. As a little girl, I wanted to grow up and find what they had, and to this day it is what I envision of "Twu Wuv" (I said I had one-liners, folks).


The characters in this are some of the best in any story. Everyone plays a part in what makes this awesome. Andre the Giant, Mandy Patinkin, Billy Crystal...they all support Carey Ewles and Robin Wright Penn so well. I can't choose a favorite scene, because they are all so stand out on their own.

I will note a couple that I tend to laugh the most about, however. Let us start with the battle of wits... I can't remember that actor's name, but I do know he has to be one of the most annoying people on the planet. Kinda glad he kicked it.

Next up is when Miracle Max revives Wesley. Crystal kills me here. Even as a child when not every joke was understood, he still had me rolling in the floor laughing. The make-up for this is done so well I was in my teens before I realized who Miracle Max actually was or what a Wench was...but I still laughed every time!
Of course, I must admit I love Mandy Patinkin's Inigo Montoya. I still quote this randomly from time to time. I feel I must post video of this...a photo wouldn't do it justice.



Still not my favorite...so I have to post yet another. I could post pictures all day long and you wouldn't receive the full humor of this scene. Just so you know, I'm laughing as I post this...so damn funny.

So now that you are well and truly laughing your asses off... If I were forced at gunpoint to choose just one scene to be a favorite...it would be this one. Like every other girl, I love the "happily ever after"....

Anybody want a peanut?

Return of the Living Dead 3

This weeks movie is Return of the Living Dead 3. I don't know if it was because of Faderade, but I honestly couldn't pay attention to this one. I'm all for zombies, but this was not really a "zombie" flick in my opinion. Definitely not scary. Far from funny. What was this to offer??..time for the Vodka to kick in and make me oblivious to the fact that there was imagery on my television. So as the end credits roll, I will tell you what I know.

A kid and his chick break into a government facility where they discover the reanimation of corpses. They get busted having gratuitous sex. Some accident caused his girl to die, he brings her back at the above facility where his father works.


Some other stuff happens with some Latino peeps, chick bites one of em, they chase after her. I don't really know. I wanted this to be good (I paid for it after all) but it just wasn't. Maybe I'll try watching it again. Maybe I missed the good parts. Either way...not one of my favorites for sure!

Julie is a self-mutilating dead/alive something. I don't deny that some of the make up she wears is cool. Not to mention some of the effects throughout the movie are pretty sweet, but it doesn't redeem this one for me. There are some pretty awesome scenes for what they are...



This was probably my favorite thing in the movie! I would love to create this to sit on my sofa perpetually. (not a bad idea) and scare the living hell out of everyone.

Don't get me wrong, I know what this movie is supposed to be. It isn't far from hitting the mark, but it just wasn't there for me. It was slow and not very entertaining. Had it had a bit more humor, a bit more gore, or even a bit more talent, I may have liked it. Just fell short of what it should have been, in my opinion. Shirts Everywhere and me with nothing to wear!

So I've spent my morning meticulously attacking my closet and dresser, and I'm proud to say they are both almost empty. Honestly, I never wore anything that was contained in either. Mostly because none of it fit anymore. Somehow I managed to hold onto things that were three sizes too big or three sizes too small for years. Why don't I just keep clothes that fit? Maybe because I've fluctuated size so much in the last couple of years. Either way, I'm prepared for a shopping trip soon. I have the minimum amount of stuff I need to get by (because it all fits) and will no longer be harboring clothes big enough for Jabba. I guess this may explain why I've been quasi-clothes shopping online for the last 18 hours. Notice my previous post about awesome shoes...see I'm down with spending some $$ right about now. I'm going to add to the previous and share some of my newest finds that will soon be in my closet.

Now I know I've blown your minds with the greatness above, but it all pales to me for this one. I remember when I got my first game system. I remember what the controller felt like in my hand, how my heart sped up when I pressed the power button for the first time and how in awe I felt when I owned everyone around me...those of you that can remember that far back and haven't stopped grabbing a controller since, this one's for you!

I guess I'll stop for now, This may or may not become a regular on my blog, there are too many to show in just one post. If you know any sites that sell great fucking tees let me know. My empty closet thanks you!

Omg Shoes!

Apparently OMG Shoes is going to become a regular post for me. I just stumbled upon a site that has gorgeous, hot shoes. Sinister Soles is my new best friend. It is loaded with amazing shoes of all kinds. From cute gothic flats to hooker thigh high boots! Best of all the prices are unbeatable. Always one for a sale, this girl! I've fallen in love...Not only do they have Zombie stompers at half the price I've mentioned in my blog previously, they have anything else you can imagine. For the few females that read my blog (or those of you guys who like wearing hot fucking shoes) this post is for you!!

These shoes are only $35 bucks. Now I just need an excuse to wear them...who am I kidding. Again I would sport these to fill the car with gas, pay my bills...anything!







Next up is a pair of boots I've had my eye on for some time. Sure they are a little out of my normal  scope, but they are beautiful!

Wow! they lace up! they are thigh boots, what more can you ask from something you wear on your feet?
And yes, Guys, they even have shoes for you! Not to mention apparel. If ever I need something to wear to a concert, this is where I will buy it! And at these prices, I can afford both shoes at once! No more Hot Topic overpriced bullshit. I can still be cheap and have hot shoes simultaneously. So I hope you've enjoyed this display of beautiful footwear.
